In 1956, Colgate purchased sponsorship rights to CBS-TV's Saturday morning "Mighty Mouse Playhouse." The toothpaste company and Terrytoon Studios produced a number of popular spots featuring the diminutive hero over the show's 11-year run. We want to track the partnerships between corporate sponsors and cartoon shows and weave a narrative of the ways in which product tie-ins boosted cartoon characters, and vice versa!

Ralph Bakshi
Ralph Bakshi is an American director of animated and live-action films. In the 1970s, he established an alternative to mainstream animation through independent and adult-oriented productions. Between 1972 and 2015, he directed ten theatrically released feature films, six of which he wrote. He has been involved in numerous television projects as director, writer, producer and animator.
